Every community has its quiet champions – those who show up, give selflessly, and make a difference without seeking the spotlight. Heroes Journey: Surf Coast Heroes is your chance to help honour these remarkable volunteers. Through powerful portraits and storytelling, we’ll share their legacy in a public exhibition and beautifully printed keepsake book.

Who can be nominated?

We’re looking for people who reflect the spirit of generosity, service, and community pride. Your nominee might be someone who:
Shows long-term commitment
– Years of volunteer work with Surf Coast clubs, charities, schools, or local organisations.
Creates real impact
– Coaches, mentors, or event organisers.
– Founders or key drivers of local community initiatives.
Gives from the heart
– Volunteers who consistently go above and beyond, never seeking reward or recognition.
Has deep local ties
– Actively serves communities across the Surf Coast: Torquay, Jan Juc, Anglesea, Aireys Inlet, Lorne, Winchelsea, and surrounding rural areas.

How the process works?

1. Fill out the form below – it only takes about 5 minutes.
2. Our small panel will review nominations against the above criteria.
3. Chosen heroes will be contacted for a portrait session and personal interview – at no expense to nominees or chosen Heroes. The chosen Heroes will also be presented with a complimentary copy of the Surf Coast Heroes book of portraits and stories at the exhibition launch event.

We warmly welcome nominations of people of all backgrounds, abilities, and life experiences. Heroes can be young or old, of any gender, culture, religion, or socio-economic background — what unites them is their contribution to our community. We’re committed to celebrating the full diversity of the Surf Coast and encourage inclusive nominations that reflect the many ways people give back.
